About Us

Learning that feels like play

At Leer Speel-Speel / Play-to-Learn Educational Centre, we believe every child deserves to be loved, guided and truly known. Our daycare and pre-primary programme takes a holistic, play-based approach to early childhood development, nurturing each child's curiosity, confidence and character alongside their early academic skills.

We teach in both English and Afrikaans, so children grow up comfortable moving between languages from an early age. Our team works to hold every family in Ongwediva and Okatana to a high standard of care and education — a place where little ones are safe, well fed, and genuinely known by the people looking after them.

With one campus in Ongwediva and one in Okatana, both a short drive from Oshakati, we are a daycare and preschool close to home for families across the Oshana region.

Meet Our Founder

MC (Lientjie) Potgieter

My name is Lientjie Potgieter, founder of Leer Speel-Speel / Play-to-Learn. For the past 23 years, teaching and guiding young children has been my calling.

I treat every child as if they were my own, focusing not only on academics, but also on character, morals, values and confidence. I believe that a child should grow as an individual and not merely as part of a group. Each child matters, and the individual child is very important to me.

Our name speaks for itself: “Leer Speel-Speel” means “leer terwyl jy speel”, and “Play-to-Learn” means “learn while you're playing”. This philosophy guides everything we do. Children learn best in a safe, loving environment where faith, kindness and respect form a strong moral foundation.

I remain personally involved in planning and teaching, to ensure strong foundations and a smooth transition into Grade 1.

As always, my promise remains: to walk this journey with you and to give my very best to every child entrusted to me.
